Intro

Today, I am going to talk about one of the most important things in the world. Does anyone want to guess? Well the awnser is friendship. In the speech I am going to talk about the benefits of having a friend, the effects of not having a friend and how to be a friend.

Paragraph 1
I think that having a friend is one of the most important things in life, not just for your wellbeing but your health because friends play a huge role in promoting your, Mental health and physical health. Adults with strong social support by friends have a reduced risk of many significant health problems, including depression, high blood pressure and being overweight. Studies have even found that older adults with good friends are likely to live longer than their peers with fewer connections.

Some other positives about having friendships are that friends increase your confidence and self worth, help you cope when times are hard and increase your sense of belonging and purpose.  This all helps a person to maintain a positive attitude which is great for your mental health.

Who are you with all the time?  Yourself.  It is really important to like yourself so you can be an awesome friend to other people.   Liking yourself is really impmortant. did you know that you can be your own best friend?  Sounds weird?  Think about how important for your confidence and your mental health health.

Paragraph 2
Pets can be one of the best friends anyone can have, especially if you live alone or is lonely, because those feelings of loneliness can lead to stress, anxiety, medical complications and even early death?  A new study proves that pets can cheer up lonely seniors and enhance quality of life.

Paragraph 3
Some of the effects of having no friends can be quite deadly and it can be as bad as smoking. Having no friends can lead to depression, so what is depression? Depression is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. In the year of 2000 20% of people diagnosed with depression committed suicide which is very bad, so to save your self you need to make a friend. So here’s how to make friends and keep them.  You can only find good friends if you be yourself or otherwise you won’t find the right person. Tell them that they are important- it's human nature. All of us want to know that we are needed, that we have a purpose and that we have a use. Because a lot of people believe that if they disappear nobody will notice .
So here are some more tips about being a good friend
Listen to what your friends are saying
Have lots of fun together
Give back things you have used or borrowed from each other
Try to understand people by thinking about things from their point of view
Dont argue and get upset if your friend doesn’t agree with you about something, its ok, they are allowed their opinion too.

Things you should try not to do:

Don’t brag about what you’ve got or done
No put downs, you wouldn’t like it if someone did this to you
Don’t take over, let others tell their own jokes and news

In conclusion - it is very important for your health to have friends and to be a good friend in return.  Being lonely has physical effects on your body, and on can make you stressed and unhappy.    An animal companion can also be a friend, particularly for an older person who lives on their own, or anyone who feels a little lonely. I hope you have enjoyed my speech and taken some advice to take on to be a better friend your self.
Thank You
